Glossary · Analytics and measurement

Event

A defined action or occurrence recorded by an analytics system with approved contextual properties.

Also called: analytics event, analytics events, conversion event, conversion events

Definition

An analytics event may represent a page view, form start, form submission, phone click, booking click, or another defined interaction. The event name, trigger, parameters, consent behavior, and business question should be documented before collection.

Why it matters

A disciplined event plan produces a smaller set of interpretable signals instead of a large collection of unused behavioral data.

Common misunderstanding

Not every click is a conversion or lead. Events record behavior; the business must define which outcomes matter.
