Google Analytics
Google's event-based analytics product for measuring configured website or application activity and reporting it through an interface and APIs.
Also called: GA, GA4
Definition
Google Analytics records configured events and parameters in a property. The Data API can retrieve report data for dashboards and recurring analysis. The numbers depend on implementation, consent, reporting identity, filters, event design, and data-quality limitations.
Why it matters
Analytics can connect page and campaign activity to defined actions, but collection should be limited to approved business questions and reconciled with privacy requirements.
Common misunderstanding
Analytics does not automatically know whether an inquiry became a qualified customer, and a dashboard number is not automatically complete or causal.
