Google Search Console
Google's owner-facing service for monitoring and debugging how a verified website appears and performs in Google Search.
Also called: GSC, Search Console
Definition
Search Console provides search-performance data and technical reports for verified properties. Its API can query search analytics, list verified sites, and manage sitemaps. Data reflects Google Search and has dimensions, date ranges, quotas, and interpretation limits.
Why it matters
It provides first-party evidence about queries, pages, indexing, and technical issues without pretending to measure every search system or every business outcome.
Common misunderstanding
Search Console is not Google Analytics. It focuses on Google Search visibility and technical information before and around the visit, not a complete record of on-site behavior.
