Search property

A verified website or URL scope represented as a managed property in a search-platform account.

Also called: search properties, Search Console property, Search Console properties

Definition

A search property groups ownership verification, indexing reports, query data, submitted sitemaps, issues, and user permissions for a defined domain or URL prefix. Different property scopes can expose different records.

Why it matters

A migration or provider handoff can appear complete while the business still lacks access to the search property containing its history and diagnostics.

Common misunderstanding

Creating a new property does not automatically transfer prior permissions, history, verification methods, or every hostname and protocol variation.
