Glossary · Search and local visibility
SEO
Work that improves how search systems can access, understand, and present useful website information without guaranteeing placement.
Also called: search engine optimization
Definition
Search engine optimization coordinates site structure, crawl access, content, internal links, metadata, local information, technical health, and other signals so relevant pages can be discovered and understood. Search systems make their own ranking and presentation decisions.
Why it matters
SEO should connect pages and technical work to real services, customer questions, and valuable actions rather than chasing isolated ranking numbers.
Common misunderstanding
No provider controls organic results. SEO can improve eligibility, relevance, clarity, and evidence, but cannot guarantee a position, traffic, leads, or AI citations.
